Mission is to lead customer investigation analysis mainly on product issues and providing Technical Expert Assessment in 8D methodology format. Scope is mainly on distribution automation ranges (T300/T500/Saitel) with potential extension on protection relays. Mainly on hardware related failure but also interact with R&D on FW failures. Based in Sevilla Spain (option in UK) and reporting to Europe POST manager (Product Operation Support Team) and interacting with repair activities, with plants (Riga and Bangalore) and other expert center (UK and China)
Role & Responsibilities:
The primary role of a POST Engineer is to investigate customer product field failures and perform root cause analysis to component level. All product investigations will follow the 8D problem solving methodology by providing TEX (technical expertise assessment) report in 8D format.
Where a pattern in failure mode or a potential hardware design weakness is identified, the POST engineer is expected to identify potential root causes and present possible solutions. This will involve working alongside the global hardware design teams, L3 technical support and quality teams to confirm root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
The role will also involve providing technical support to production and repair activities when hardware failure trends are identified. This will primarily involve board level root cause failure analysis and support in implementing corrective actions.
The POST engineer will also be expected to support the global R&D teams with tasks such as addressing component obsolescence by identifying alternative components and implementing a test plan to confirm that any alternative component is suitable for use within a given design. Support will also be expected for any hardware design issues that are identified during verification / validating / EMC testing of new and existing designs.
The POST engineer is expected to build knowledge and understanding of distribution automation products manufactured by Schneider Electric, in terms of hardware design, product features and operation, test tools and test philosophies. With this knowledge and understanding, POST engineer will provide a high level of technical support to all areas of the business, continuously improving customer satisfaction and product quality and reliability.
Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (analogue and digital)
Good knowledge and experience of the complete hardware development lifecycle, including identification of design weaknesses, design for manufacture and test and understanding of manufacturing processes.
Minimum of two years of product hardware development experience, preferably in design, development and industrialization of protective relays, RTU or modular products involving RTU, protection, control, measurements, communication protocols, EMC design and test.
8D problem solving process.
Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.
Team player with experience of working in a multi-site development environment.
Protection & Control products and applications knowledge (focus on distribution automation ranges)
Able to produce high quality documentation for both internal and external distribution.
