Entrevista
I first spoke with a recruiter from Facebook who had contacted me out of the blue. I was later passed on to another recruiter. This recruiter then set up an interview via bluejeans where I reviewed an app with one designer, and talked about past work with another. This seemed to go well, and I was invited for an in person interview in Menlo Park.
The in-person interview was quite a long day, especially after long plane rides and a thin walled hotel. It started off with a presentation to a group of designers, showing them my past work. All of the group seemed to be very responsive, aside from one person in particular. I asked if anyone had questions in between the projects I was showcasing. She sharply said that no questions would be asked during this presentation, and that there would be time for them later. This was quite odd, because other designers began to engage with me and ask questions not too long after. I then had an enjoyable lunch with someone that worked on design systems. The afternoon was spent doing another app critique, followed by a more extensive review of my background work and finally a whiteboard session to solve a specific problem (ATMs). I felt great about everything aside from the whiteboard session, which was led by the one person that seemed particularly uninterested throughout the day.
My recruiter emailed me a week later explaining that there were extensive discussions between team members back and forth, but ultimately they could no agree on a consensus. I was not given an offer.
I would say that the overall experience was good. But there are a few things to consider:
1. The travel and hotel could affect you on interview day. It's a long day so be prepared and try to get a lot of sleep.
2. This is a non-traditional interview. You will converse with a large group of designers that may have their own ideas or motivations. Every personality is different and although every employee is supposedly within the same hierarchy, you can tell who has more power.
3. The whole process took multiple months.
The recruiter is very supportive. First round is a deck presentation. Second round is full loop: deck+ BQ+ whiteboard+ app critique. The Overall experience is good, it takes around a whole month

Straightforward like any big tech interview, but long and intense. Formats are pretty standardized so it just takes practice. Questions appear like it's from a bank, so if you're prepared you should be fine.

I was reached out by a recruiter. Started with the recruiter call, then portfolio presentation, then full loop (Portfolio presentation - app critique - design challenge - background). They had very strong emphasis on design craft and visual excellence. Recruiter who helped me prep was very nice and helpful.
