Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. Acudí a una entrevista en Amazon (Seattle, WA) en ene 2019
Entrevista
The interview process started around early 2019.
Received an email from a recruiter to do an online assessment. Two questions similar to Leetcode medium and hard. Did it and got contacted for an on site interview.
There were four back to back interviews in the span of four hours. Every interview spent around 10-20 minutes of time on leadership principles, so be sure to know all of them and have a variety of examples for each one! The technical side of the interview relied heavily on system design, such as building Minesweeper, a parking structure, and Amazon Prime Video. There was also a algorithm question involving a Leetcode Hard Tree. Overall an interesting and good experience, the onsite felt stressful yet at the same time doable. Respectful interviewers who are trying to learn the most about you. It was hard to gauge how I was doing from their reactions due to them typing on their laptops constantly.

The interview process for a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) role at Amazon typically consists of three main stages:
HR Screening
The process begins with an initial conversation with a recruiter. This discussion focuses on your background, experience, and overall fit for the role. You may also go over basic behavioral questions aligned with Amazon’s Leadership Principles, along with details about the team and position.
Online Assessment (OA)
Candidates who pass the initial screening are invited to complete an online assessment. This stage generally includes:
Data structures and algorithms coding problems
Logical reasoning or work simulation tasks (in some cases)
Basic system design or debugging questions (role-dependent)
The goal is to evaluate problem-solving skills, coding ability, and efficiency.
Technical Interview (Live Coding)
The final stage involves one or more live technical interviews. These are typically conducted via an online coding platform and may include:
Solving algorithmic problems in real time
Explaining your thought process clearly
Writing clean, efficient, and correct code
Answering follow-up questions and optimizing your solution
I completed an initial recruiter screening and then moved forward to the online assessment (OA). I didn’t prepare ahead of time, and the assessment consisted of two LeetCode medium-level problems. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to solve them successfully and did not pass the OA stage.
