For AWS Thailand -- As a candidate, this was not a good experience. I've never encountered a situation like this in my career and am not sure if it's the norm or not. This was a call with 3 people total and 1 interviewer speaking. Given the amount of preparation for this call from reviewing the resources online to the document provided by the recruiters to even taking and passing the AWS certification exam on the day of, I felt like what I expected from the interview is far different from the reality of it. I was not given the opportunity to talk about how I applied the AWS leadership principles. I was not given the opportunity to answer questions using the STAR method. I was not given the opportunity to talk about my client-facing experiences. I was also not given the opportunity to talk about my career and aspirations for the future and how that might align with AWS as an SA. The interview was very one-sided. It was not conversational at all. The format was a 30-second introduction 'tell me about yourself' and then it was a barrage of questions like: - what's X? - what's Y? - ... It felt very black and white. It felt like they were grilling me on superficial terms that I can remember instead of trying to get to know me and really dig deep. I've tried to explain times when I encountered this situation and what I did to address it and the outcome of it, but the interviewer did not want to hear it. They even asked me about acronyms and when I asked to clarify what it stands for to see if I knew the concept (and I did) the interviewer would not offer any assistance. This was quite frustrating for me. Instead of asking 'what's X or what's Y', perhaps they can instead ask questions like 'can you tell me about a time when you ...'. To simply put it, the phone interview was about memorizing dictionary definitions and how well you can regurgitate them.
