There was a hackerank test for just mere 20 mins. The question was easy but it was a kind of question you use relational databases for. Like a query from MySQL. I had to do it using java or some other high level language. I am not against the idea of tough questions. But the timer for 20 mins just isn’t enough. And god forbid if you speak English as a second language, you are gonna take 5 to 7 mins just to read and understand the question. Such kind of recruitment process puts the confidence down of so many people. People at yelp, please consider using some better questions. Please understand it’s a new grad position. Please understand people come to tech from many backgrounds. Please judge people on more than just a 20 min question.

Applied online. Was given a link to a HackerRank challenge that I had to finish within a week. Didn't pass all the test cases but still made it through to the 45 min Skype Interview. Straight forward interview, first 10 minutes talking about myself and my experience. Then I was asked iOS development questions like Frame vs Bound, View-controller Lifecycle, Optional Chaining, etc. Lastly, had to solve 2 coding challenge with any programming language. The interviewer was really nice and helpful but I wasn't prepared enough and didn't make it through to the onsite.
