I had a very mixed experience with WebFX through the interview process. I personally do not think the interviews were difficult at all but more so just long and drawn out. As a lot of people have stated, there are several steps to the process which in my opinion is a bit excessive. You will first have a phone interview/discussion with a recruiter. It is a very laid back talk where they just try to get a feel for what you are like as a person. If you "pass" this part and they think you could be a decent consideration, they will then move you on to the next step. Second is a series of online tests for general personality, decision making and interests. After these tests/questions, if they like your answers and feel more so that you could be a match for the company, you will be called in for a general interview at the WebFX offices. This interview covers a lot of basic questions as well similar to what you did online previously. The questions are very typical to many interviews I have had in the past and with a little bit of reading up about the position and company, you will be absolutely fine. After the hour or so long interview, you will be prompted to take an exam that is similar to that of an SAT. After the exam, you will be given two separate grammar and spelling tests in which you read a sequence of words and a letter and are prompted to highlight all of the errors you can find. All of these are timed as well, but you will find that you will get done with plenty of time to spare. Lastly in this round, you will be taken on a tour of the office and shown a lot of the perks and amenities that the company has to offer. If you pass that step, you will be called back again for a more specific interview and will be asked to complete and prepare a project for that final round of interviews I was told to prepare a sales pitch about anything I wanted and then had to present to the head of the strategy department as well as two other employees I had prepared handouts and done extensive research expecting to be asked questions about my pitch and the topic, but was not. After the pitch, we quickly moved onto another interview which had many of the same questions from the previous rounds of interviews with a couple job specific/situational questions. After this round, I was told I would hear back from someone soon about the next step, and when "soon" did not actually happen, I was able to tell I was not going to be offered a position. I was emailed 17 days after my last interview and told I was not going to be offered a position and that was that. While I do not know why I was not offered a position for certain, I have a few theories which you should be aware of if you make it through to the interviews: WebFx has a very specific culture that may not be ideal for everyone. I soon learned this as I went through the interview process. They are a very happiness and kindness focused company that may seem overbearing and excessive at times. The entire interview process seemed as though they were trying to decipher whether or not your personality was a match more than anything. They try to pitch you all of these benefits such as free coffee, snacks, bring your pet to work days and cubicles meant specifically for pets. What you won't hear once is any communication about pay or real benefits. Perhaps I did not hear any of this because I was not offered, but I think at least some transparency would be appreciated. As you may or may not be aware of, the pay at WebFx is very low relative to the industry because of these "perks" but I find it hard to pay rent with free coffee. I think this is another reason why I was not offered a position because I made it clear I did not value those benefits as much as just doing good work and getting results. My problem with this new modern workplace is that while these benefits are cool, they add absolutely ZERO marginal utility to quality of life. They promote happiness and flashy things at the office, but I argue that most people would prefer to have a slightly higher salary to pay rent, car payments, etc. All in all, I think that WebFX would be a great fit for a lot of people, but it is just not for me. I think that may have shown in my last interview and I was not offered a position. If you have their personality, you will have a great interview process and will be offered a position.
