Initial phone call with in-house HR, then a phone call with creative director. A design challenge was then given consisting of three deliverables. Virtual meeting with team of six scheduled to present ideas and feedback. All went well and the people were all nice and seemed like a good team to join. In the end, it was a canned 'thank you, but..' response which wasn't expected in this exact case since I was issued a task and then presented to multiple people. Despite direct emails to HR, it really seemed to break the affinity and partial connections made with all the people in the process. Much more professional to have been addressed by a person than the typical mass-and-general email address. Again, only because it went further than just an "initial discussion."
