Applied online for Engineering Manager Position in October 2020. Recruiter contacted me and set up a 45 min phone call. She spoke about company and commute for about 10 min. Asked about expected salary and kept pressing until I gave a figure.
Then asked about my background. For about 40 min we went over my background. As we were getting close to an hour and I had to jump other office meeting, I ended the call.
Another call was set up with the Director who was hiring for this position. From his background on Linked in I saw he worked 18 years at Amazon in the past. From interview, I felt he was very professional. He answered a lot of my questions first and then asked a few behavioral questions about my management style. A full interview for 5 hours was set up in third week of Nov.
Director himself was one of the 5. Others included a Product Manager, Principal Engineer, Tech. program manager and an Engineering Manager. Each lasted at least the full one hour.
They were very professional conversations, dealing with various situations in software engineering.
Two weeks after interview, recruiter contacted via email. She said initial reaction was positive and asked if I was still available. I replied I am still available and I understand it takes time. She replied she will get back to me by end of week. I never heard back from them after that. That was the only unprofessional part. They could have just emailed saying they were moving on.

There were no direct technical questions over the 5 hours. All were behavioral, situational and management style questions, dealing with software engineering.

Well defined. 2 rounds of tech and 2 rounds of behavioural analysis. Tech was more focused on system design. Manager rounds focused on how you handle team, remove ambiguity and handle low and high performers
