My first interview with the company was with the CEO, company was pretty small back then.
It was pleasant call, he said he would give me an assignment. Assignment was easy, it involved manipulating data in an Array. Filtering, sorting, removing, etc. After I turned it in, he let me know they would get back to me soon.
After a month, I didn’t hear anything. This was back when I didn’t have boundaries or know when to look for red flags, so I decided to email him for an update. CEO didn’t even apologize, and said he would refer my answers to an engineer to review.
So nobody even looked at my assignment answers for a whole month, until I asked. The engineer assigned to look at my answers said he liked them, and wanted to schedule a phone interview. When I asked him when he was free, I also didn’t hear anything back.
At this point, I know this wasn’t a company I wanted to work for. CEO and my other interviewer show a clear lack of respect for their job candidates, and a company that doesn’t respect its candidates will likely not respect its employees as well.
