Today, solar is growing exponentially, and according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), it is expected to be the main electricity source in Europe by 2050, fostering green economic development across the continent. With growth, the impact that we can make in the value chain increases. Reinforcing a responsible, transparent, and sustainable solar value chain is central to delivering this transition. Sonnedix has joined forces with SolarPower Europe & Solar Energy UK and over 50 solar companies, from across the value chain, to create the Solar Stewardship Initiative. Together, we’re working to develop confidence in how, where, and by whom, solar products are manufactured. Learn more ➡️

Sonnedix recently sponsored and participated in the Colorado Solar and Storage Association (COSSA) Land Use and Renewable Energy Symposium in Lamar, Colorado. Luis Matheus, our VP of Development from our Sonnedix USA team, was present among other experts, to discuss renewable energy and land use with county commissioners and planners from southeastern Colorado. It was an opportunity for our team to share their expertise on the impacts of renewable energy, including development, construction, operation, and decommissioning, as well as provide insights on how to best handle the permitting process, and ultimately, how their communities can benefit from the development of renewable resources in the area.
Sonnedix is committed to educating the problem-solvers of tomorrow by providing educational support on how renewables is key to tackling climate change. Every year, our teams are actively lecturing in our communities to inspire future generations on sustainability. But no matter what part of the world you're in, these e-resources are available through our #SustainabilityAcademy. If you are interested in visiting our facilities across the globe or would like us to come to your local school, contact our education team at ESG@sonnedix.com.
Sonnedix is playing an important role to meet Chile's renewable goals of green energy in the country's energy mix by 2040. In March 2021, we started the construction of Sonnedix Meseta de Los Andes (160 MW), located in the Valparaiso region. Once finished, the site will become the second-largest project that Sonnedix will have globally. Sonnedix Meseta de los Andes will produce 386,750MWh of clean energy every year, capable of powering more than 180,000 Chilean homes, and avoiding around 160,000 tons of CO2.
We are proud to announce that Sonnedix has been awarded a maximum five-star rating, for demonstrating distinguished efforts in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance in the 2022 #GRESB Infrastructure Assessment results. Thank you GRESB for this recognition that demonstrates once again our accountability through strong ESG standards and policies in all our operations!
