While most of my experiences with Zillow recruiters were positive, I feel compelled to leave this review due to the lack of professionalism displayed by a leader on the talent engagement team at Zillow. Initially, my conversations with this individual were promising; this leader even reached out to me about a potential role for which I might be a good fit. We had an engaging conversation, and I was encouraged with the classic line, “Yes, please feel free to follow up anytime.” Since then, I have sent multiple emails and LinkedIn messages, some filled with thoughts and ideas about the potential role discussed. However, since our meeting, I have been met with complete silence—no responses to any of my messages, not even a simple acknowledgment or a note to say, “Sorry, I have been busy,” or “Unfortunately, the role will not be opening.” I understand that things happen and roles change, but the absolute lack of communication, especially when someone invests time to craft thoughtful messages and is genuinely excited about a potential opportunity, is extremely unprofessional. This is particularly disappointing coming from someone on the talent engagement team. While I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, seeing this leader on talent engagement team actively posting and commenting on LinkedIn, while ignoring my messages, makes one feel like an afterthought. My main piece of advice for this team is to avoid leading people on or creating false hope. Honesty and openness are far more respected than being ghosted.
