I was first contacted by a recruiter for a phone screening that was about 15 minutes and she claimed that I would hear back soon to see if I would get another interview and if I had any questions to email her. She kept in touch with me throughout the process but in the middle of waiting for another interview the recruiter claimed that there was another candidate that was being highly considered and that it was implied I wouldn't get contacted again, this was over a month of keeping in contact with this recruiter. 2 weeks later another recruiter contacted me and set up a date an time to talk to the hiring manager. I had an interview with the hiring manager and then got contacted by another recruiter to set an in-person interview. I wasn't aware that I had to prepare a half hour presentation for the interviewing panel and that the interview would last at least 4 hours until the day before the interview.

Applied on the website, recruiter emailed me to set up a skype call with the hiring manager where we did a brief portfolio review.
After skype call I was invited to go onsite for a 4 hour interview which would include three 1:1 interviews and a portfolio presentation in front of a panel.
Unfortunately a day before the onsite, the recruiter called to inform me that they are cancelling my interview despite me doing all the preparations and creating a presentation deck, due to already extending an offer to another candidate who had another offer deadline.
The whole process was under two weeks, so I'm left to wonder why they bothered to interview me in the first place, and why they didn't inquire earlier about offer deadlines from each candidate.

The interview process was pretty in-depth and required a lot of time, but everyone involved in the process from start-to-finish really makes it all worth while (aside from the actual job being interviewed for itself!). I went through a couple phone interviews and was flown out to Seattle for a day of interviews and I felt so at home at Zillow (and even the hotel chosen). I first gave a presentation to the entire Zillow Design Team, then about five 1:1's. During my presentation, and especially during my 1:1's, I felt heard and appreciated.
HR also makes sure you have lunch, coffee, and snacks... Anything you could think of throughout the ~5 hour day. All travel related expenses are taken care of as well.

My favorite part of all interview's was when asked to do a whiteboard exercise. A Designer at Zillow will ask or create a mock story or ask to display your process and/or thoughts visually on a whiteboard.
