Went through a recruiter who called me for a short interview basically to see how I sounded on the phone and make sure I was worth passing on to the next person. I was immediately scheduled to talk to another person, a manger, on the phone the next day for a real phone interview. This was a brief conversation basically asking why I wanted to be in sales and why Yelp and what I knew about Yelp. I was prepared for these because of the information the recruiter had sent to me. (Links to the Yelp blog and 'A day in the life of an AE').
Went in for an in person interview. Make sure to come early since you need to check in with security and be let up the elevators. I got put in a room and interviewed by three different people. The first one was easy and just had me do a basic role play and he pretended to be a pizza place. It's important to sound confident and try to be yourself. They don't expect you to know how to sell they just want to see that you can handle rejection and stay positive.
The second guy was a little tougher and in our role play pretended to be someone who was comparing Yelp and Google. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE FEEDBACK THEY GIVE YOU. They'll have you try the role play call again and they're trying to see if you are coachable.
The third person was nice and asked if I had any questions and it was a relaxed/ normal interview. It's important to just be yourself and if you are then they'll know if you'll be right for the company or not.

The interview process was pleasant from start to finish. It included a recruiter phone screen, a video call with the sales manager, a role play exercise, and the opportunity to implement the manager’s feedback.

One question they asked during my interview was what specifically about the role made me feel it was a strong fit for my background and experience.
The interview process with Yelp was a very organized experience. From the first email after I put in my application, to the offer extension call, I always felt well informed and included.
It was a one time interview over video call with a pre call before. One on one with a training manager. Pretty simple not too hard at all. Lasted 30 minutes with questions and role plays.
