- Several rounds of interviews protracted over several months, even though I was told that this role is super urgent to fill.
- Recruiter was friendly but slow to respond and often needed nudges even though I was clearing every round.
- 30 min interviews; not enough time for either party.
- The company is in dire straits given most of the folks (engineers & PMs included) do not have strong engineering education/background/experience (peek at their linkedin profiles), and there is a lot of churn, attrition & chaos.
- The interviewers are honest enough to allude to the hopeless state of affairs.
- It is clear that TaskRabbit is not an engineering company but rather a marketplace business supported by inexperienced & amatuer coders and PMs, and leaders who come from lightweight, non-engineering parts of the industry, and hence are unable to meet the growth goals of the company which require stronger grasp of engineering and organizational principles.
- I have a deep & broad industry experience, and the interview process failed to meet me with the required speed & enthusiasm given their need & urgency, and I bailed out of the process after my final round to avoid wasting each other's time.
