I applied online and received an email to schedule a technical assignment. The assignment involved a video and screen recording, and it was one of the most interesting technical tasks I’ve encountered! It was a lot of fun, although I found it a bit challenging since I've spent the last few years working with complex features, with a lot of API calls and had neglected plain DOM manipulation. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to pass all the tests in the end, but I learned a lot throughout the process. I even bought a technical book that the recruiter recommended and I'm loving it. Caryl was very kind and supportive. To be honest, I feel really sad that I didn't pass. I felt a strong connection to the product since I have a sister with dyslexia who struggles to read books. Tools like Speechify can truly make a difference! It would have allowed me to combine my passion with a meaningful purpose. Hopefully, I’ll have another opportunity next time.
