Applied directly through the career page. Heard back from a recruiter 2 days later and had an initial phone screening. The recruiter was courteous and polite, but the culture and team seemed a bit pretentious. It felt like it was more about how great Slack is and how it is a privilege to work there etc. After a positive first phone screening I was given an assignment to complete and send back which I actually put a lot of thought and time into for basic questions. I had a feeling before I sent it in they already made a decision to not move forward but I submitted it anyways. I was rejected from the position saying that I wasn't what they were looking for. That is fine with me. However, after searching Linkedin for the team members in the same role, I saw a lot less qualified people with not close to the amount of experience they are asking/looking for. I have a feeling that Slack is a culture around cliques and the "in crowd". It speaks to the amount of company reviews vs interview reviews for them as no one seems to be "cool" enough for them.
