The process took two months, and included a phone interview, a writing assignment, a 6-hour in-person interview, and an additional writing assignment. I was disappointed that I didn't receive an offer after all of this, but I was even more disappointed by the lack of communication on Kayak's end.
To begin with, the internal recruiter took a full week to send me the names and email addresses of everyone I met during the interview (as that information wasn't sent prior). I was hoping to thank the rest of the team sooner than that, but I let it slide. Two weeks after that, he emailed to request a second writing assignment. I sent it two days later. And then... nothing. I waited almost three weeks, then checked Jobvite only to see the position marked 'closed.' I sent him a follow-up email inquiring whether the team had any feedback/if there was anything else I could provide – and heard back two days later saying that the team decided on another candidate. Which leads me to believe they would have never closed the loop on their own, after two months (!) of back and forth.
All in all: It's upsetting that they don't value candidates' time, considering the amount that's poured into every application.
