Infosys reached out to me regarding the React Developer role. I had an initial phone call with HR in which we discussed the role, salary, etc. After that, I was invited for a Webex call with a consultant. This was a technical discussion and was pretty straightforward. I was given a couple of little coding challenges - things you didn't need to whiteboard or write any code for. This lasted about 30 minutes or so, and I thought it went well. I was told they'd reach out regarding next steps within a week or so. About 1.5 - 2 weeks went by without any response. I had sent courteous follow-up emails and expressed my enthusiasm about the position. Still didn't hear anything. I went to check my candidate portal out of curiosity and saw that the company was no longer interested. The status changed two days after my interview. They didn't even have the common courtesy to let me know. To me, that's a real disgrace, especially after both sides had invested a decent amount of time. I don't care about being told no at all! It's more the fact I wasn't told no, but rather I had to find out for myself. If I didn't look on the portal, I probably never would have known, because the silence at Infosys was deafening. Definitely not a company you want to work for if that's how they treat candidates. A touch of humanity and kindness goes a long way.
