I was referred through a friend. Lauren called me, and was so polite and sensitive to the fact that I was a "passive" candidate. I immediately got a very warm feeling from the recruiting team. After a friendly, informal conversation with Lauren, I was invited to interview onsite for a half day with several team members. I met with about 5 people, and each of them were welcoming, passionate and clearly dedicated to the ZP mission. I've been in interviews where I step outside of myself and think "Wow, this is boring and I sound like a boring person". NOT the case here. I left the interview at ZP feeling energized and excited. The vibe there was infectious. They asked for references immediately after my interview day ended and I had an offer by the beginning of the next week.

Overall, Gusto is a company that needs to get their processes cleaned up and prioritize building a standardized interview process, clear SLA's and a more personal experience for candidates. My second round interview was moved out and rescheduled 3 times with the Hiring Manager (sometimes on the day of or the night before). On the call, there were no probing questions or follow-up and there was an overall sentiment of not being listened to or prioritized.

What is your experience with tearing down an existing system?
it was a very long process for a first interview with a company, I interviewed with about 3 or 4 different hiring managers over the course of an hour and a half.

I applied via an online application. Weeks later I received an email from the recruiter with the title "Next steps" that mentioned "we had a great time chatting with you" and were attempting to setup next steps.
I've never communicated directly with anyone from the company, let alone a recruiter, prior to this.
Additionally the email had a suspicious link which appears to belong to Modern Loop, an AI recruiting tool I'm assuming they're using (which explains the first email).
I did get a phone screen with the recruiter. Standard questions about backgeond. I received no follow up, feedback, or rejection email after the call.
Overall, a poor experience.
