Set up a time to chat and interviewer canceled an hour before. Super unprofessional. Stated the position was filled. I followed the protocol and submitted my time of availability. Took time out of my day to interview and instead I got a generic email stating the position was filled.

I have never interviewed with someone who was so unprepared, especially as an HR rep. She came into the call late and seemed to stumble through her words asking questions that were redundant and did not represent the company well.

Pretty straight forward simple questions. At the end, she said before we move further she had to send me a questionnaire to answer and then we can move forward. Never got the questionaire. Seriously, who says that? Why waste my time and your time! Why not just ask me the questions you want to know?
Dear Candidate,
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear you feel we were unprepared. We want to make sure we make the best use of candidates' time. We hope to continue to be interested in ZenPayroll, make sure to circle back with us.

I applied online and was contacted the same week. The interview forgot about our scheduled phone meeting and returned my call after about 30 minutes after we were supposed to start- she "went out for a drink and completely forgot we had an interview". When we started, it sounded like she was reading from a checklist of questions, responding to every question with one word responses, I could tell it was going nowhere and she wanted to get through it so she could probably get another drink. She informed me the position I was interviewing with her for was already filled, and she had zero knowledge of the compensation plan. Complete waste of time. I was excited for Gusto and was never really given a shot. Could be a great company but the recruiter reflected very poorly on the company

The Interview Process was split into 7 steps:
1. Initial phone call with recruiter
2. Follow-up phone call with second recruiter
3. Take home assignment
4. Feedback on assignment and assignment revision
5. Three in office interviews with members of the team and manager
6. Follow-up phone call to answer last minute questions
7. Submission of three references
Though the process was lengthy, the amount of thought and care that was put into the recruitment process was both impressive and appreciated. One could tell how much Gusto valued their employees by how they sought to find those that best fit the company vision and spirit. It was this reason, among others, that I accepted the offer they extended me.
