Applied online and a recruiter reached out three weeks later to schedule an interview. They worked for a third-party company that was screening applicants and seemed cheerful, answering basic questions about the role and the company. They did not know much about the culture or particulars of the role.
The next interview was with a manager at the company. I contacted the two recruiters I was in touch with to reschedule the date and didn't hear back until the day of the interview. We rescheduled for the following day when I spoke with a manager who seemed unenthused about working for the company and arrived late to the interview.
During the discussion, I realized the role was very junior to where I'm at in my career. The manager spoke of growth opportunities within the company that didn't seem to exist upon closer questioning. Additionally, the company structure seemed very siloed, which is something I would like to avoid. I was left with the impression it wasn't a very rewarding place to work beyond the access to food.
15 days after the interview, I received a rejection email that said I was passed over due to lack of experience. The message "If you would like feedback from the interview, please let us know and we can set up a call." so I sent a polite follow up requesting this as I was curious how this determination was made as I was overqualified for the role. It's been nearly three weeks and I never heard back.
