Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. El proceso duró 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Chegg (Nueva Delhi) en jul 2020

      Entrevista

LONG POST. PLEASE READ BEFORE GIVING INTERVIEW SHORT SUMMARY: UNPROFESSIONAL, WASTE OF TIME The recruiter (SB) contacted me via LinkedIn for Sr. Software Engineer - Frontend Development position. In the very first call she gave me a brief intro about the company and asked me for my current, expected compensation and notice period. I discussed my expected salary with her and asked her to get an approval from business/management on the same before proceeding for the interview. She told me that since my expected CTC is in their bracket so she doesn't need any approval before proceeding for the interview. To start with the process she gave me an online Hackerrank Test (Duration 1 hour) which I cleared and then she scheduled my next rounds of interviews for Saturday (18th July) - 3 Technical Rounds - 1 Hiring Manager Round First round (11:00 AM - 12:15 PM) The interview asked me basic & advanced JS concepts, a couple of programming questions, data structures, ReactJS, HTML & CSS. Second round (12:30 - 1:15 PM) Interviewer asked me about my current work, role and responsibilities. He asked me a couple of questions on Website Performance, Security and one programming activity on ReactJS (to design a notification UI similar to FB). Third round (4:00 PM - 5:00 PM) It was a mixture of Technical and Managerial rounds. The interviewer asked me about my past and current assignment. Role and nature of work. Best project in my career so far. And then he discussed a couple of questions on ReactJS, CI/CD, website performance, security. Couple of programming activities: 1. Convert "test is gr8" to "t-e-s-t i-s g-r-8" 2. Create a ReactJS class with input box and use the above transformation on the user inputted value and display it in <div> After the programming activities he asked me if I had any questions. So I asked about the roles/responsibilities and benefits that the company provides to employees. On Tuesday (21st July) I received a Documentation mail for HR Discussion. I have submitted all the required docs to her and waited for the reply. On Wednesday (22nd July) I received a call from HR to clarify my current compensation breakup. I answered all her questions and she said she will send me the offer by 4 PM. But as you have heard “All that glitters is not gold”. So here comes the twist in the hiring process which the Company claimed to be transparent and refined. I didn't receive any mail/call from HR on that day so on Thursday (23rd July) morning I called the HR to get an update on my candidature. She said that the offer is pending for approval with the HR head, and since he is on leave for this week so she couldn't proceed with the offer till the approval. One more week passed... On Monday (27th July) I called the HR to get an update and she said that the HR head is available today so she would get an approval on the offer by today. And later in the evening I received a mail stating "There has been some internal issues (which the HR was not aware about until that day) around requisition/requirement against which they want to make the offer and the offer is stuck at top management level for approval." On Wednesday (29th July) the opening for which I was interviewed was no longer there on Job portal and a new opening was been posted with different JD (Sr. Software Engineer Frontend - React/Redux) Requisition Number: 4441. On Saturday (1st August) I got a mail stating "The position has gone on hold and in case if that get's resolved then they will be happy to extend an offer however cannot commit a deadline but please don’t restrict yourself and feel free to explore other opportunities." Wasn't the business/HR aware of the status of profile for which they are shortlisting/interviewing the candidates? And I think it's not just me whose time was wasted there would be others as well who would have been interviewed on that day or in the past and would have gone through the similar result. Interestingly, after a week the job which was posted on Wednesday (29th July) Requisition Number: 4441 was later edited to "Senior Software Engineer - Frontend Development(Node/Typescript)" and the JD was the same for which I was interviewed. It really feels pity to see such unprofessional stuff from companies. Chegg is also like other IT companies where the HR likes to keep the things in Dark. It's good to say REJECTED to candidates rather than wasting time. Please think twice before giving an interview at Chegg as the profile can go on hold anytime which the HR will not be aware of ;) and your efforts will go in vain.
