Entrevista
Based on the other reviews here, I think my experience was an outlier. With that said, it's also the first time I would say I had a negative interview experience when taking my own biases into consideration.
The interview (for me) consisted of a quick recruiter screen followed by a technical interview round split into two parts: coding and system design.
The recruiter screen was fine and covered the usual questions. The technical interview is where things felt pretty bad. The first interview was with one of the managers, and I felt that he was not very professional. I want to give benefit-of-the-doubt and say he was either overloaded with interviews that day or he was burnt out from something. He showed no interest in our interview and seemed very distant and rushed. The problem was pseudo-practical, and I think they were expecting a solution based on deques, but I hadn't studied or used those in years (I've gotten my recent positions through take-homes). With that said, allegedly I had done well enough with a naive list/dict solution if I remember correctly. The question involved tracking and storing payment data I think.
I then went on to the system design interview. Unlike others, this one revolved around a distributed system with low DAU counts. I thought I solved it okay and tried to keep it overly simple after being burned in another interview where my simple was not "simple enough".
The company came back with a rejection several weeks later. If it weren't for the other reviews, I don't know if I'd recommend applying to Check, but it definitely seems like my experience wasn't the norm, so I would take this with a grain of salt.

1. Tracking/storing payment data if I recall correctly. Optimal solution involves a deque, but I don't think you need the optimal since this is more practical than theoretical.
2. Involves a hypothetical ATM network
Only went through the introductory step, but everyone was fantastic. My schedule was all over the place and they were incredibly accommodating. Culture seems amazing and seems like a great place to work!
