Entrevista
first a phone screen with a west coast employee. Then an onsite. They gave me a Square branded glass?
They sat me in an office with a computer and one by one engineers came in to ask me to implement something. For one of the interviews, I implemented a Trie, and was able to reuse the code in a later interview which was pretty cool actually. They claimed it was a coincidence.
The rest of the day was done with groups of engineers.
They had a system design session.
Then I had the standard, 'explain a hard thing you did' interview. I felt that went well, and I met with the hiring manager.
The interview feedback was provided quite quickly, and the recruiter was fairly specific about what they thought I could improve on. I really appreciated that level of feedback. For the record, I did not verbalize my thinking well enough during one of the coding sessions.

Tell us about a hard thing you did, and what was hard about it. Engineering wise.
Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. El proceso duró 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Block (Atlanta, GA) en ago 2022
Entrevista
1. Take home project
2. Extending take home project in a remote call with a senior dev
3. Extending take home project in a second remote call with two senior devs
4. Interview facecam call with hiring manager
Overall, loved that I didn't have to do whiteboard questions or solve ANY weird leetcode problems.

I would highly recommend to not waste your time doing the take home project and instead do the regular technical interviews. If they hire someone else who got through the process earlier than you, they won't review your project nor give you any feedback.
Got ghosted by the recruiter/received no feedback even after I asked for it and instead got the standard company "we went with someone else" email.
Take home project consisted of pulling data from an endpoint and showing it in a list. The same one that everyone else got.

1. tell me about a project you worked on.
2. why Square?

I was given a choice between an initial phone technical interview or a 4-5 hour take-home project. I chose the take-home project because with a phone interview you never know what random tricky question they'll throw your way. I put in a bunch of hours over a week into the project and came up with a decent implementation. Then after I submitted I didn't hear anything back for two weeks. When I pinged the recruiter I got a short "we have decided to not move forward." I felt confused and somewhat offended that that's all I got in response after putting in all that time. I know I did a good job on the project so it's perplexing. I feel like I at least deserved to be able to explain the code to the engineer that did the code review.

Implement a pretty standard screen with a recyclerview with image and some text that comes from a json endpoint.
