      Entrevista

The whole interview process was a mess... sometimes I had to wait days for recruiters to come back to me and schedule the next interviews, but in the end I did good and received a nice offer, so guess it was worth it after all. First I had a 60 minute phone interview with a senior solutions architect. This was not easy at all for a phone interview, but not very hard either... First we talked a little about my previous experience and current job and then he jumped in asking random technical questions depending on the fields I mentioned. Such as "Difference between application and network load balancer", "Osi-model" , "http-protocol", "what is a container?", "what is event driven architecture", "server less" ... and some other basic stuff... it is not that hard but depends on the topics you mention yourself to have experience with. I repeated the protocols, basic internet stuff and AWS services for this and this preparation of a few days was absolutely needed to get trough this round. The questions come very quick, one after another, with no time to think in between... Next I was asked a few leadership principle questions in the format of "Tell me about a time... when you did more than you should", "Tell me about a time you failed..." aso. I had like 3-4 questions in that fashion even in the first phone interview... After that they took 3-4 days to come back to me and tell me my interview schedule for the loop, where I would have 4 hours of virtual interviews within one day. Also they attached an AWS assignment, which I would have not been able to solve without basic-good AWS knowledge. It was not that hard, troubleshooting an architecture, but you also have to document on how you could improve the application or how to scale it in the future and all in all that took me 5-6 hours in total or even more... also I never heard anything back about the completed assignment, there was no loop round, where it was necessary for. Also before my loop, the recruiter called me to inform me, I was supposed to have unique examples for every of the 16 LP and because I have only 3 years of work experience so far in a company that has no AWS company values and you have to pick recent ones, that was very hard to do... although I had some very good examples targeting multiple principles, he said, it could be seen as negative, if I re-use examples during multiple loop interviews... this was nearly impossible to do. Then my loop day finally came... The first two sessions were okay, just LP questions in my native language and some talking. Although they asked so many LP questions in each round, I was not able to not repeat myself at all... (you need 40+ examples I would say to not do that) But after two rounds without a break in between I was kinda exhausted. Next round was a 100% technical round... I thought it would be about the assignment but no... it was like the first phone interview - no hard questions, many (easy) technical questions, very, very random and a more complex system design question in the end (no white boarding). Last round ( I thought it would be not too hard because the interviewer was a manager from Sales), but surprise surprise, he was not conducting the interview at all (so be careful about looking up your interviewer before, they can trap you). He brought another technical person ( which I believe, was the bar-raiser), who did the interview. It was a full English round (I am no native speaker) and of course LPs again and I had to repeat myself again, everything else would have been impossible... they told me I'll hear from them within the next 3 days... I believed, I did a good job. Surprisingly the next day, I felt like I had been hit by a truck or ran a marathon or threw a ring into mount doom at Mordor... it was so exhausting and draining and during the interview it had been also a very hot summer day... I had to recover from this a full day. But finally, 3 days after I got a call and received a nice salary offer. They said, I did great. So I believe with the right amount of effort you can make it. But it has to be said, I took 2 weeks of my work for the final round plus assignment and preparation to perform that well and to have some time after the interview to relax. I spent much time for preparation, wrote down 20-30 pages of notes, did the assignment and went trough all my work history and tickets I ever did in my job to collect examples and the loop was the most exhausting interview experience in my whole career until now (never applied for another FAANG company to be honest). Preparation is everything and Glassdoor helped me a lot with it. But you have to know for yourself if you are willing to spent that much effort on a job interview... I am aware or having taken a risk and won, but if I had not gotten trough the loop, it would have been painful due to the enormous effort that went into the whole process...

      Preguntas de entrevista [1]

      Pregunta 1

What is AWS lambda What is serverless? What does https stand for? What is a singleton pattern? What is an event driven architecture? What happens if you type "www.amazon.com" into your web-browser step by step? What is a container and what is the difference between VM and container? Difference between SQL and noSQL and when to use what? What is a load balancer? a.s.o. Tell me about a time when you failed? Tell me about a time, when you invented something? Tell me about a time, when you had a conflict with a colleague and how did you solve it? Tell me about a time, when you did more than you should? Tell me about a time, when you did not know what to do? Tell me about a time you rejected a customer? ... (going on for hours and hours) and so on. You can actually look up all these behavioural questions only and they are all the same...

Technical questions are expected, but be prepared as the process has changed, and now they ask about Nvidia arch, and INtel arm based arch too which was not expected as per their previous records but yes now they include it.

5 panel round interview, breadth across cloud computing concepts. if for a domain then can be very specific. these roles vary very much so it really depends on the team on the kind of work you do, but you have the same interview process regardless usually, except for the hiring manager expectations per role
