The interview process consisted of four one‑hour conversations, each focused heavily on situational and behavioral questions delivered in the STAR format. Every interviewer concentrated on two specific Amazon leadership principles, so across the full loop I was asked about Customer Obsession, Ownership, Dive Deep, Bias for Action, Insist on the Highest Standards, Invent & Simplify, Learn & Be Curious, along with several questions tied directly to drone operational awareness.
Since I had already been working as a Flight Support Engineer (contractor), the hiring manager gave me the opportunity to interview because my experience aligned closely with the role and I had expressed genuine interest in moving into this position. The hiring manager’s questions centered on situational awareness, drone knowledge, and what an operator should be looking for during a mission — with a strong emphasis on flexibility and adaptability.
All four interviewers were professional, friendly, and supportive. They encouraged me to review my notes if needed and gave me time to think through my responses before answering. Some of them also asked thoughtful follow‑up questions to dig deeper into my examples, which made the conversations feel engaging and collaborative.
