Applied directly on the AWS career portal. Mainly 2 key issues in AWS:
1) HR does not seem to have a tight understanding about the role. She shares some brief high level points about the role after which the candidate is required to explain their profile in detail.
2) Quality of the interviewers (both hiring manager and other stakeholder) is very poor which is reflected in both their questions and response to my answers. Some did not know the basics of Cloud technology while some did not know GTM or segmentation strategy which are fundamental to the role. Their attempt to appear smart and well rounded fell flat when they started questioning my response on GTM strategy design approach and guiding principles. To me it is strategy and consulting 101 but their question revealed they have never done it in the past and have no experience in handling such projects.
Very surprised as well as disappointed to see consistently poor interviewers back to back for 6 rounds over 2 roles I was interviewed for.
Makes one believe that AWS success credit would go to their technical/product team - definitely not to their strategy, planning or GTM programs teams.
