Ventajas
I get to work whenever I want, from wherever I want. I work mostly from home, but I can easily go home to Canada (I live in the US) and work from my parent's house for a few weeks, etc. I also have 3 kids and sometimes I need to take them to the Dr or whatever and they're very understanding.
The compensation is pretty fair. It's considerably more than what I made at previous employers, but it's probably about the same including buildings, keeping the lights on, company picnics, gym memberships, etc. This way all of that money comes to me.
It really depends on your role, but for me I feel like I have a lot of freedom in my job. Whenever I argue that "this is the right thing to do for our clients", that never fails. I've had bad experiences at other places where we make stupid calls because management as a favorite operating system or because "it's just too hard to change". They have a very long term perspective and that's really great.
I love the culture of working with a global team. I worked with a guy in Brazil while the FIFA world cup was going on. I worked with a guy in Ukraine when they were invaded by Russia. It just gives you such a different perspective about world news when you work with people in all of these different countries.
Desventajas
The recruiting process is tough. You've got to be really good to join.
Because you work with people in different timezones, sometimes you have to wake up early / stay up late. I have kids that I have to take care of, and they've been really understanding about that. Still there are times where it sucks.
