Ventajas
None. They set up an interview. The client wanted me. I wanted them. Collabera screwed it up.
Desventajas
I had a very successful interview in September with a large international bank in NYC. They wanted me. I wanted them. The only obstacle was a background check. Collabera requested 10 years of managers names and phone numbers. Since I've been a contractor for 15 years (with JP Morgan, U.N., Amex), and since my point of contacts and employers of record have been agencies, there've been a lot of managers. People change jobs. With a lot of research, however, I provided most. Over the course of a month and a half (while the client was waiting for me to start), Collabera massively goofed up the checks, repeatedly asking for information I'd already provided, requesting my tax returns, driver's lisc and ssi card (before any paperwork), I received over 100 emails - from Collabera employees around the globe requesting duplicate personal information. Naturally, it made me more and more suspicious. I repeatedly suggested that if the client wants me to start, and I've given most of the contacts you need, put me in the seat, and we'll find whatever we still need in the weeks ahead. Not acceptable to them. After a month, I requested they facilitate a brief convo with the client I'd interviewed with, to allay my concerns. They agreed, but never made it happen and stonewalled when I asked about it. In the end, the Collabera employee got abusive and insulting, and again requested my tax returns or else. The collabera employee also wrote that she was informing the client that they "have not been able to verify a single employment listed on your application" and were so informing the client. I supplied most of the contacts they requested - to the best of my ability, so there's really no reason to lie and defame my reputation with a potential client. Do not work with your company. If you don't believe me... google "Collabera, Scam".
