Interview Experience:
The job description advertised a mid-level automation engineer role — tools like n8n, Zapier, Make, simple scripting, working with APIs. The rate was 90-150 PLN/hour. Reasonable expectations for the described scope.
However, the technical interview didn't match the job description at all. I was asked senior-level systems architecture questions about managing 200+ automations simultaneously, including centralized monitoring, failure recovery at scale, and infrastructure design patterns. None of this was mentioned in the job listing.
If you're looking for someone who can architect enterprise-scale automation infrastructure, say that in the description and price it accordingly. Don't advertise a mid-level no-code role and then filter candidates on senior engineering knowledge. It wastes everyone's time.
The HR call was professional and friendly. The disconnect was between the listing and the technical expectations.
Advice to management: Align your job descriptions with your actual interview questions. Be transparent about the seniority level you're hiring for.
