Applied for this position on a Friday. I was contact by the Roku recruiter via email the following Tuesday to set up a time to speak. We set the time for 4:30pm a few days later. When it came time for our phone interview my phone rang a half hour early. The recruiter called me and asked if we could speak now instead of at 4:30 due to the fact that she had a doctors appointment at 4:45. The call was awkward as she was driving to her doctor and I felt as if she wasn't really paying attention. To top it off, her phone was breaking up the entire time and it was difficult to communicate, at least on my end. From there she really didn't ask many questions about my background, all she kept saying is "what questions do you have for me". So I asked the typical questions in regards to the company. After a total of maybe 20 minutes of speaking (her phone cut out and had to call me back in about 5 minutes) she said that she would submit my information into their system. A few days later I got an email saying this...
Dear xxx,
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to consider you for a job at Roku. We have reviewed your background and qualifications and do not have an appropriate position for you at this time. Hope you will be a loyal Roku customer. We appreciate your interest in Roku and wish you success in your job search.
Sincerely,
The Roku Recruiting Team
Needless to say, I was baffled. We did not really get into my background or experience. If we did, they would have known that I was absolutely qualified for this position.
So all in all, I lost out on this position because Roku's recruiter was concerned about driving to her doctors appointment.
Terrible experience.
