I am from a different background but have many of the relevant skills needed. My application didn't even get to the hiring manager, but at least they sent an email with the refusal within 1-2 days. Feedback to the company: it would be extremely useful if HR provided relevant feedback on the applicants' files and overall impression - positive and constructive - what to work on or change, why it was declined and what were impressive.
