I applied directly, and it seemed to be a good fit considering my vast telecom and techical experience. I was looking for a company that was more "google" than Centurylink. I was contacted by a very nice recruiter and had a face-to-face interview quickly. Great interview with the hiring manager over the phone. Once I was brought onsite, I did not see or experience the open environment I expected.

I was asked at least 3 times what I would if I had a conflict with a co-worker. Generally, I don't have conflicts with fellow employees, or don't view them that way. By the time I was done with the interviews, I thought "Do you need me to go talk with this person? I can do that for you." My interviewers seemed like regular, stressed out NOC people, which was disappointing for a company that wants to appear as if they are on the cutting edge of technology and innovation.
My last interviewer didn't know what to do with me. I was asked if I had been given a tour of the NOC. Nope. I was passed off to another person I had already interviewed with, and he just showed me the way out, not knowing what he was supposed to do.
Very strange after my first very positive interview,,once I got in the door no one tried to sell me on the company. That is a bad sign. I didn't see anything that made me thing it was a great place to work, other than free snacks, and I can figure that out for myself. I was so excited to work in a progressive environment, but it just didn't see it there.

Clear, concise, and the competencies required were defined and made understood to the interviewee. Schedules and details were provided in ahead of time so you can prepare. One downside is you dont get a feedback if you dont make the cut.
