It could be the weirdest interview I have ever had in my almost 10-year professional career. I guess I should not call it an interview overall. I applied two months ago and about two weeks ago I was reached out by a recruiter on LinkedIn. She thought I would be a good fit (not knowing I already applied for it) and wanted to schedule for a call. I replied with information but did not hear anything. A few days ago I got a voicemail from the same recruiter saying they would like to learn more about me regarding my application. Well, here are the weird things. She was not sure if I was already interviewed by someone else. She was not even sure what the hiring manager is looking for until she found some sort of document to verify. She kept talking and there was no room for me to explain and say anything. After answering some yes no questions, she said she thinks I am not a good fit. I did not even get a chance to introduce myself and talk about my background and experience. She barely could get any ideas of what I do, and I wonder how she can judge a candidate this quick without some basic information. If you think I am not a good fit, then why would you call me at the first place? Let alone I was also reached out on LinkedIn. At the end of the call, there was also a moment that made me uncomfortable. She asked about salary expectation, and I told her a range that I have been interviewing with. She replied: "That is good money there. Whatever you are making you must be living a good life." I mean $100k in the bay and $100k in Michigan could make a huge difference. You are a recruiter and you are not supposed to comment on that. Overall I take this as a joke and fortunately enough it only wasted me like 10 minutes.
