Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. El proceso duró 3 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en RBC

      Entrevista

First I found someone hiring for this role. So I messaged this person on LinkedIn. Then he asked for my resume. Shared the resume and got a first round interview. After the first interview with HR, I was called for the next interview with a hiring manager. After the interview with the hiring manager I was asked to come on site for another interview. And didn't here a response post that interview.

Applied online at RBC careers. If you are seriously looking for the role. You can know check the application status under job management on the website. This first step is recruiter review. If your online status doesn’t change even after a couple of weeks to recruiter review. There is a good chance you are not even being considered at least that was experience after applying for multiple jobs in the IT department. Looks like they constantly update their job application tool to help the candidates with their progress. After a couple of weeks after applying online, I got a phone call from the recruiter checking where I was located, my immigration status, salary requirements and few other general HR question like what made you interested in the role, what made you chose RBC etc. I was told the next round would be Technical. Was interviewed on WebEx since most of them were working from home because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. There were basic questions regarding the technical background and then there were technical questions. Their idea of interview is that everyone who is applying for a Network engineer role needs have CCNP knowledge of Routing and Switching. They kind of ask questions to gauge your technical depth and how you would expand this knowledge to Data Center and Security. Try to be thorough in OSPF/BGP at least up to the CCNP level and if possible, touch base on the CCIE level topics, do not bluff they are technically good managers for the most part, I think.

      Pregunta 1

      1. Was given a scenario and was asked as to why the webpage of server wouldn’t open how I would I troubleshoot from outside the company and from within the company? What could be network issues? It was open ended discussion (Answers: Ping the gateways/check the traceroute) 2. Describe BGP and various concepts in BGP like EBGP multi-hop feature? 3. Stateless v Stateful firewall? 4. Some really advanced questions on TCP? 5. When would you use Type E1/E2 while redistributing OSPF and why? LSA types?? 6. What is Path manipulation in BGP and how do you manipulate routes in real time 7. Remote Access VPN questions 8. What are the reasons for BGP to be stuck in Active state? How would you troubleshoot the issue? 9. What is route-map and where did you implement in real time. I did okay on the interview. I think in the hindsight If I could have done something well, it would have been fact that I should have given my response enthusiastically and be more energetic during the interview. I kind of had bad week during the week of interview, by the time of interview I was mentally exhausted, I felt like I was not able to give my best and I think that and few other minor mistakes cost me the interview. Ultimately, they never responded again over the email. I checked online status on the same weekend, which showed a message that I was not among the finalists for that particular role.
