Got a tip from a friend that Palantir was an interesting company working with databases and structured and unstructured data. I went on the web site, played their demo, emailed the recruiter and did not hear from anyone. I applied again a week later and then got an email request for a phone screen. The first phone interviewer asked 3 questions, fairly deep, on networking, name service and nfs. The second phone interview was the hiring manager, asked some technical some personality questions. The gist was we're a start up, everyone does everything, really hard, all the time. They were looking for the best and brightest, to do what ever it takes to get the job done...... The third interview was the in person. It was a cattle call. There were at least two dozen people, of varying ages and experience. Meet 6 people, most of whom were very nice. Two were remote. Some asked technical questions, some personality questions. I did get the feeling, they had talked between the interviews and each had a purpose, or line of questions. Got to meet two of the founders at the end, which was an interesting surprise. I could tell, I did not get the job when I didn't hear from them by the second day. Not sure why, maybe I didn't express the fact that I was willing to be a slave for them. Interesting company, but I consider it a double edge sword. I am sort of glad I did not get an offer. But it would have been interesting to work on the product. Good luck to those who interview.

I had behavioral interviews and then 4 in person interviews. The behavioral was straightforward. There was also a data query interview where they taught you a new "language" and had you execute basic queries in it. Then there was a system design interview. I had two of these. The last one they asked me if I was deployed to the moon to identify new species of alien what kind of system would I build.
