Most full-time employees work as contractors for several months. I worked as a contractor for about a year before a permanent spot opened up. Initially I interviewed for a different position and was chosen for a different position. I was interviewed by two individuals: the hiring manager and the head of the department. I went through Kelly Services for the initial interview. After my interview, I got a call from my recruiter telling me i got the job as a contractor.
