El proceso duró 5 días. Acudí a una entrevista en IPSY (Los Angeles, CA) en jul 2019

      Entrevista

A recruiter reached out and scheduled a 30 minute phone interview with someone on the video team. The phone call was pleasant, and the interviewer seemed passionate about the company. Later that day I was given an editing exercise to complete within 5 days. I heard back within 24 hours of sending the edit.

      Entrevista

My interview experience was just... well, odd. I sent in my application in on a Friday and heard back that following Monday. An interview was set up for the next day, however when I woke up and checked my email (a few hours prior to the interview), I saw a message asking if the date/time could be changed because the interviewer had a doctor's appointment. Slightly unprofessional, but I wasn't too bothered by it. I agreed and we moved the interview to the next day at a much later time. Now I live on the east coast (three hours ahead), so I had already spent an entire day working and was pretty tired by the time he called for the interview. (NOTE: All the times he proposed for the interview were pretty late, so I took the earliest slot). The interviewer himself was very friendly and personable. He asked me what I knew about the company and told me a bit about it (they were hiring A LOT of employees because they're looking to expand). The first couple of questions were normal - tell me about yourself, where are you located, what kind of job are you looking for, yada yada. Pretty standard. Then he asked me about what I did. Assuming that he didn't read my cover letter or resume, I started paraphrasing my duties. "No, tell me what you do, not what's on your cover letter." Now this threw me off because my cover letter pretty much sums up what I do at work. So, I started explaining the exact planning and editing process while trying to avoid repeating what was said on my resume/cover letter. My answer ended up being pretty long winded since I had to stop and give back story or explanations on certain things I did that wouldn't make much sense to someone not doing my job. He asked a couple more questions which I felt I had already answered at some point. Then I asked him a couple of questions (which he was only able to answer one of the five) and found out that this was only his THIRD DAY ON THE JOB. Also, he cut the interview short because he had to prep for the next interview. I was kind of stunned after the interview, not really sure what to think about it. I sent a thank you letter later that evening and he responded the next day saying they weren't going to pursue me. I was okay with that. I appreciated the speedy communication, but I thought the interview process was unprofessional. I would preferred if someone familiar with the company had either interviewed me or sat in on the interview. Also the fact that the interview was cut short abruptly bothered me. I thought that he should have at least informed me before the questions that it was going to be only 20 minutes instead of 30 or 45 since I did have to rearrange my schedule in order to accommodate him.
