Went into the Mountain View office and interviewed with 4 people consisting of the SVP Engineering, VP, and 2 managers. Interviews lasted 20-40 min each with 1-1.5 hour breaks in between. Lunch was provided since interview was scheduled for 10am-4pm.
Honestly the entire process was disorganized. I was messaged about the role over the weekend. There was no official job posting yet. I was asked to come in to the office to interview within 3 days after a phone screen on Monday. When I met with the team, every interviewer had a different understanding of the role and even some of the goals and vision for this role were contradicting. The role was labeled as a Technical Project Manager but from what I could understand, exec leadership was looking for an engineer with project management experience while managers were looking for a true project manager. Not only this, there were many other discrepancies with what this role would entail. Since there was no job description that I could reference beforehand aside from what the recruiter could tell me on the phone screen, I felt like I was set up for failure to begin with.
The culture in the office itself was very stressful from what I observed. Leadership within the office was very blunt with everyone. Even in between my interviews, one of the interviewers openly talked about my discussion with him in front of me with an employee, and it was not discreet which I felt was very unprofessional. Granted this role was not a good fit for me, I would have hoped that more discretion would have been used.
