Very odd, unnecessary long, unprofessional interview process. And based on recent reviews, looks like I dodged a bullet with this company. Lack of communication between recruiting and hiring manager. Gave recruiter my availability for phone screen, however hiring manager called me unscheduled that day to screen. Fine. Get through that and get invited to video interviews with 4 individuals. Each 45 minutes. I just don't understand the need to waste so much time. The individuals who interviewed me wore baseball hats, hoodies, etc. I get a laid back culture, but for an interview this was insulting. When interviewed by individual in department I was applying for she asked me questions about collections, when I gave my answers, she argued with me. Even though I was correct, and given my background vs hers, that was easy to see. During hiring manager interview I asked her what's a day in the role look like and also what does training look like. She couldn't answer these very simple, yet important questions. Major red flag. When I asked each employee at end of interview why they like working at Gusto they all said... because they can be their authentic self. Have pink hair, wear hoodies etc. Nothing about growth, teamwork, making a difference, success, etc. Just that they can "be authentic"... for someone who doesn't have pink hair or wear hoodies to interviews, guess I wasn't a good fit. Because based on my experience I was more than qualified.
