I was highly impressed with the efficiency and organization of the hiring process. I learned about the company during a presentation at my university, after which I decided to apply. First, there was a phone interview with a woman in the Quality Assurance position. The chat was informal, and none of the questions were unexpected. She mainly asked me about my interest in the company and details on my resume. The next step in the process involved several online tests. The personality test does not have right or wrong answers, so that part was relatively straightforward. The more difficult section was the skills assessment, which was quite stressful because it was proctored via webcam. The four sections were a timed section, a math section, a reading section, and a computer programming/logic section. The last part was the hardest because I did not have experience with this subject beforehand, but the test seems to be testing logic more than previous knowledge. Finally, I was invited to participate in an on-site interview. The company paid for my airline ticket, hotel, and all other expenses. You have the option of attending a dinner with Epic employees the night before your interview. Even though the meal is optional, definitely choose to go. The people that I met were kind and provided helpful advice about the company and Madison in general. It's a way to learn about the job without the pressure of an interview. Fair warning: the day of the interview is long, and you will be exhausted by the end. The day included a software demonstration, a couple of small discussion groups, multiple case studies, and lunch with other potential recruits. My best advice for the day is to be enthusiastic about everything, and ask plenty of questions to everyone that you meet. Also, when you receive the email informing you to dress casually for the interview, feel free to take that advice. Your instincts may tell you otherwise, but I saw several individuals wearing jeans and college sweatshirts throughout the day. First impressions do count, so do not take the opportunity to appear unkempt, but there's certainly no need for a full business suit. Overall, the entire interview process was highly organized and extremely well executed. Everyone that I met during the day was extremely kind and welcoming, and the company seems to be a great work environment.
