      Entrevista

I've applied twice to DigiCert for writing positions. First round, applying for Content Writer position: I didn't receive any sort of confirmation that my resume had been received, so I called the DigiCert office in Lehi to verify that it actually had been received. At that time, I spoke directly with Jon, the head HR manager. He verified that my resume had been received and it was being reviewed, and that I would hear from someone shortly. He also mentioned it spoke well of me to call and show that initiative. Several weeks passed and I heard nothing, so I called back and asked for Jon again. The representative told me that he was just going into a meeting and asked if I wanted to leave a message. I then asked to speak to the hiring manager, but was told that the hiring manager for the content team was also just going into a meeting. However, Jon had time to tell the rep to give me the email address of the hiring manager and recommended I send an email. I did, and a few more days passed without me hearing anything. Then the job closed, so I assumed I hadn't gotten it. Second round, applying for Technical Writer position: Fast forward a few months. I saw the Tech Writer position open and felt that it fit my skills a little better than the Content Writer position, so I decided to give it another go. I've heard great things about working for DigiCert, so I didn't want to let the opportunity pass. Again, I received no confirmation of my application having been received, so I called the office for verification. I asked for Jon, as I had had previous contact with him. The rep checked to see if Jon was available. He then came back and asked for my name. After (presumably) giving Jon my name, the rep informed me that Jon was suddenly going into a meeting and couldn't talk to me, but that my application was being reviewed and I should hear something shortly. I mentioned to the rep that I had previously applied and had been given the email address of the hiring manager for the content team. After supplying the email, the rep told me that that wasn't the email of the hiring manager--or any kind of manager--but just of one of the team members. No wonder they didn't get back to me when I emailed them before. I still haven't heard anything from anyone at DigiCert, and I last spoke to them several weeks ago. The job is still open, but I'm assuming I didn't get the job. I find it extremely coincidental, and a little unusual, that right when I call, everyone suddenly has impromptu meetings. I'm okay if you don't want to hire me...just tell me. Unfortunately, all of the lack of professionalism in handling potential new hires has left me with a bad impression of the company overall. They could be missing out on a lot of good talent. I don't think I'll apply again.
