Phone screening followed by a phone interview followed by an in person interview. The phone screening was impromptu but asked simple questions like what is your experience and why do you want to work here. A few days later I was contacted for a phone interview with a few managers. The interviewers had very few questions prepared, probably three or four, and they were very generic; not related to the job description in anyway. The second question they asked referred to my career goals. I talked about how I wanted to pursue aircraft dispatching. The interviewer replied that the job is primarily customer service based. This was news to me because the job description was dispatch and teamwork based with a slight mention of customer service. I was actually excited that the job was primarily customer service because I had 6 years of experience in CS. I did gear my answers towards dispatching so I did not think I’d get another interview. I did get called for an in person which was really two interviews. The first was with other dispatchers and was really an opportunity for the interviewee to ask about the job. Then there was a test on Dispatching. Then an interview with at least six people. Again, they had no questions prepared. They actually began by asking me to ask them questions and they built off of that. There was really no way for me to showcase my skills. The job description was primarily dispatch and teamwork based yet The interviewers said it was a customer service based. I felt like they were trying to rope a dispatcher in with the job description and then break the news that it was CS based. I felt they had someone else in mind and were just interviewing me as a formality because there was no way to showcase my skills.

The initial phone interview was with a human resources recruiter. The recruiter was very pleasant but direct in the questions asked. The questions were generally inquiring about professional experience. The second interview was a conference call which included senior staff and management. The conference call was much more inquisitive and required specific answers.
