As a contractor with my former employer my position and the IT Infrastructure was outsourced to CGI.
I was led to believe that my continuing support would be needed for the transition period. I was interviewed by a Manager from a different department, the interview was very informal and relaxed with a few technical questions and implementation scenarios.
When my contract ended. I waited for a new contract. After not hearing from CGI I proceeded to contact the relevant person dealing with this. Over the coming week I left daily telephone messaged and emails requesting a response. After not receiving any, I contact the Program Manager. The Program Manager who when I spoke to was also under the impression that my contract was to be continued. He assured me that he would chase this up and have somebody from the "Service Management Service" team contact me. I was contacted on the following week to say that my services would not be needed.
I was now without a job.. Some common courtesy and Management ethics would not of gone amiss here.
