The phone interview, which was my first one coming out of grad school, was followed by being flown to Phoenix all the way from the east coast for an in-person. The fact that the plane ticket was ~$1300 gave me the confidence that they were actually interested in me. The in-person included a 30min sit down with my upcoming boss and the head of HR, then a 30min sit down with two engineers. Very comfortable considering my approach is to myself as a person and a cultural fit ahead of any crazy curveballs they may try to throw my way. They were eager to get me to move out there as soon as possible, but my first week was very slow..including my direct boss being out of town for the first 2-3 days or so.
