So-called magic assessment was nothing of the sort. The Asda magic was never explained because it doesn't exist. The interview was informal and included visiting the shop floor to have a go at facing up and clearing rubbish (even though it wasn't the job applied for). The offer wasn't made for over 2 weeks, even though I was told at interview I had got the job. Apparently, when staff take holidays in HR dep't, they don't delegate to ensure candidates aren't left hanging about. This was Farnworth, Bolton Store. I declined the offer in part because of terrible reviews on glassdoor, but also because of their poor recruitment process. The HR dep seem to have got themselves an easy way of getting paid for doing almost nothing. Many been there 15, 20 years or more and have obviously got far too cosy.Totally unprofessional.

A group of us were interviewed all at once. We had to sit in one room and were divided into teams. We then had lots of nonsense team "games" and "tasks" to participate in. If you passed this stage, you then moved on to an individual interview.
