My Interview Experience at ANR, Noida (Java Developer Role)
Recently, I had the opportunity to appear for an interview at ANR, Noida for a Java Developer role, and I’d like to share my honest experience.
The process started with an online aptitude round, which I cleared successfully. After that, shortlisted students were invited to the company location for the technical coding round.
In this round, each candidate was given a sheet with 6 coding questions to solve. I gave my best and managed to solve all 6 questions. After reviewing my solutions, they handed me one additional coding question with just 7 minutes to solve it.
I almost solved the 7th problem — about 99% done, and the code was running. I just needed a few seconds to correct a small part, but before I could do that, they stopped me and said, “Your time is up.” I was not allowed to make the final update.
To my surprise, despite solving all 6 questions and giving a nearly complete solution to the 7th, I was not selected. Interestingly, some candidates who solved only 5 out of 6 questions were shortlisted, while some of us who did more were not.
What made it more difficult was the effort behind it. I had travelled 60 km one way to attend this round and practiced continuously for a full week to prepare. Still, in the end, I was left with no clear feedback and no positive result. This experience made one thing clear: in interviews, it’s not just about skill — sometimes, a bit of luck also plays a big role.
In the technical round, we were given a sheet with 6 coding questions. The topics were mostly from strings, arrays, and hashmaps, and the difficulty level was easy to moderate — not very hard, just basic logical thinking and clear coding understanding.
