Pride Month is many things. A celebration of the LGBTQ+ community - its history, its achievements, and the progress made towards equality and respect. If we’re being honest, it’s also a reminder that not everyone has equal reason to celebrate yet. For many transgender and non-binary people the workplace remains one of the harder places to be themselves. The TUC found that 79% of trans respondents have experienced bullying, harassment, or discrimination at work, while Stonewall puts the proportion of LGBTQ+ employees who feel the need to hide their identity at nearly two in five. The fear of not being accepted or understood at work is still a daily reality for a significant number of people. Those realities do not reflect the culture we have. But culture without structure only goes so far. We’re proud to have recently launched our Gender Transition at Work Policy, alongside a Gender Transition Support Plan that gives employees and managers a respectful way to navigate transition together. It provides practical guidance around communication, confidentiality, workplace adjustments, and ongoing support - helping to ensure those involved can approach the process with greater clarity and consistency. Releasing this during Pride Month is our way of saying: every person in our community deserves to feel safe, respected, and able to come to work as themselves.
The Bank of England has published its shortlist of 18 native UK species - and the public now has the chance to vote on which animals will appear on the next series of banknotes. Read more in the link below.
In 2025, we played a key role in keeping the UK supplied with coin - supporting businesses, banks, and communities nationwide.
After delivering a successful series of Cyber Security Roadshows across the Vaultex estate last year, our IT Security team wanted that message to reach young people navigating an increasingly complex digital world. In partnership with Learnlive, they delivered their first Cyber Education Broadcast, designed to equip young people with practical skills to help them stay safe online. More than 8,000 people watched the broadcast live, with a further 2,500 viewing it on demand afterwards. In total, it has reached over 10,500 young people, helping them build the confidence and awareness to better protect themselves online.
The demand for cash remains - and with it the value it continues to deliver. Find out more in the article below.
From the vault to the summit – and the streets of London. Every successful business has remarkable people behind it. This past month, two members of our community reminded us just how true that is. Zaneta Mileszko-Lisowska, scaled Mount Kilimanjaro raising over £1,000 for Cancer Research in memory of two friends. Test Analyst, Arlen Boyle, then took on the London Marathon in aid of the Firefighters Charity, completing it in honour of a close friend and firefighter who tragically lost his battle with mental health - raising an extraordinary £5,000 (and counting!) We’re extremely proud - and privileged - that the character of Vaultex is represented by people like Zaneta and Arlen.
Easter has long been a focal point in the cash cycle and this year continued that pattern. Across the Easter period, our network of sites distributed £1bn to our retail, bank, and ATM customers. That level of demand underlines the ongoing relevance of cash across the UK, particularly at milestone moments in the national calendar. It also highlights the dependable role of the infrastructure behind it, with our people, systems, and partners working together to handle increased volumes and ensure the public had continued access to the cash they need. Thank you to the Vaultex community and our wider network partners for delivering once again.
The Bank of England has confirmed that UK wildlife will feature on the next series of banknotes. For more than 50 years, UK notes have focused on historical figures. The next series will instead highlight something closer to everyday life across the UK - a clear change in direction shaped directly by the great British public. In the Bank’s consultation, nature emerged as the most popular theme, supported by 60% of the 44,000 respondents, just ahead of architecture and landmarks on 56%. As ever, new note announcements are more than design changes for Vaultex. We process £84 billion in banknotes each year, alongside £1.2 billion in coin - around 42.5% of wholesale cash in the UK - and are well accustomed to what follows. New notes take years to develop, test, and finally be released into UK society. When they do enter circulation, it’s not an overnight process. They are introduced carefully, reflecting the scale of notes that need to be handled, and are supported by a comprehensive Bank of England communication programme that keeps the public, and all organisations handling notes, informed in advance. We are proud to have worked in partnership with the Bank of England for almost two decades, including supporting the introduction of the UK’s polymer banknotes from 2016. We look forward to continuing that role, helping to bring the next generation of notes into circulation in the same reliable and consistent way our industry-leading service is known for.
To mark International Women’s Day this Sunday, our People and Transformation Director, Stef Wilson, reflects on her journey from HR Administrator to Executive Committee member - and the belief and opportunity that made it possible. Ahead of the day, we're recognising all the grandmas, mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and nieces who play such an important role in delivering the industry-leading service our customers rely on.
We’re really pleased to share that Vaultex has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2026 WORK180 UK Equitable Workplace Awards: Career Development and Representative Leadership. Being shortlisted places us among the top five employers in the UK in each category. The recognition reflects our commitment to building a balanced workforce, improving gender representation at all levels and continuing to grow the number of women in leadership roles. This has been built over time and embraced across the Vaultex community, helping to strengthen a culture where everyone is supported to progress and succeed. The winners will be announced on 8th March, International Women’s Day. Best of luck to all the finalists.
