Suffolk Southeast was excited to attend the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County Generals Construction Career Day. 140 high school teens attended the event for an insightful day of learning about the many career paths in construction. Our West Palm Beach team spoke about their various roles, answered students' questions, and discussed technology advances in our industry - complete with an interactive demo of Spot, the Boston Dynamics robot Suffolk uses for site documentation on our jobsites across the country.

In observance of Memorial Day, Suffolk Northeast team members volunteered alongside Home Base, the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund and other partners for the Memorial Day Flag Planting at the Boston Common. Led by our Veterans Who Build Business Resource Group, Suffolk volunteers helped plant some of the 37,000+ flags that make up the Memorial Day Flag Garden at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. These flags represent every brave Massachusetts service member who gave his or her life defending our country since the Revolutionary War. The completed garden is a breathtaking tribute to the true meaning of Memorial Day and a powerful message of support to the families of these fallen heroes that their sacrifices will never be forgotten. We are honored to continue our ongoing partnership with Home Base in supporting Veterans and Families of the Fallen. Suffolk is committed to carrying a spirit of service and remembrance for the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Suffolk is proud to stand as one of the first contractors to sign the Million Women in Construction Community Pledge, a new national initiative announced by the U.S. Department of Commerce. This pledge is a call to action for all contractors, labor unions and training organizations to create a more inclusive and diverse industry. Not only was Suffolk one of the first contractors to sign, but we also worked closely with the Secretary of Commerce and our industry partners to help develop this impactful initiative. Suffolk is committed to increasing women's access to training, jobs and leadership opportunities within our industry. Our thriving Women Who Build Business Resource Group and internal programs like Women in Operations and Leading Women Executives all help create a supportive and driven environment for women to grow and develop at Suffolk and beyond.

As part of our commitment to Operational Excellence — making sure our projects operate consistently across the country — we introduced some friendly competition to the Suffolk team: our first-ever Ops Ex Tournament of Champions. This national quiz show gave our employees a chance to show their knowledge of technology and Suffolk project standards, then win bragging rights and a grand prize if they made it through to the final. We hosted virtual semifinal games in each of our regions and three winners advanced to the final at our Boston headquarters, which was livestreamed across the country.

In honor of Women in Construction Week, Women's History Month and International Women's Day this past March, we had our team members across the country dress in purple. Purple, one of the official colors of International Women's Day, signifies justice, dignity and being loyal to the cause. Thanks to our teams across the country that participated as a show of support for all of our Suffolk women!
