As the eyes of the world turn toward the soccer pitch this summer for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the Scotts team is working hard to ensure the next generation of players has the same high-quality foundation: real, natural grass. On May 12, we officially announced the expansion of our "Keep It Real" initiative. This program, a partnership between Scotts and U.S. Men's National Soccer Team (USMNT) star Tyler Adams, is a commitment to the health, safety and development of youth athletes across North America. This mission starts in our yards. Until June 11, for every new Scotts Lawn Care Plan purchase, Scotts will donate a portion of the proceeds to Every Kid Sports to expand access to youth sports across the country.
🌈 🌱 Earlier sunrises, soft rains and the return of local wildlife — spring is making its debut. While the world outside wakes up, our associates are finding inspiration in unexpected places (like the very determined geranium blooming in the basement!). 🌸 What’s the first sign of spring you’ve noticed this week?
💖🎁 We took a break this week to celebrate Galentine’s Day with a self-care gift exchange and some well-deserved treats. Supporting each other is what we do best — even if it can get a little competitive when handcrafted candles are up for grabs. 🕯️😉
The generosity of our associates is one of our greatest strengths as a company. This year, our holiday giving drive raised over $111,000 for charities, including Every Kid Sports, Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, the Union County Military Family Support Group and our associate support fund. We also donated toys, food, diapers and clothes directly to families in need in each of our local communities. We always enjoy giving back in our communities to GroMoreGood, everywhere.
Today we announced a multi-year partnership with Columbus Crew to name their downtown stadium ScottsMiracle-Gro Field. This builds on our long history of supporting the Crew – from helping maintain the world-class natural grass pitch to jointly creating more opportunities for kids to enjoy soccer in their very own neighborhoods. We believe everything is better on natural grass, whether in your backyard or out on a Major League Soccer pitch. Through this agreement, we are proud to expand our partnership with the Crew. ScottsMiracle-Gro Field is more than a name on a stadium. It is a symbol of our commitment to growing a greener, stronger community for years to come.
Our teams wore pink in Temecula, California, and Lawrenceville, Virginia, for hashtag#BreastCancerAwarenessMonth to celebrate survivors, honor those lost and raise funds to end breast cancer. A special congratulations to Temecula's GroMoreGood with Pink team: They joined the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK walk for the third year in a row, raising more than $15,000 total. This year they surpassed their goal of $2,500 to collect $4,806, becoming the third highest fundraiser at the walk. This work is critical because awareness saves lives. When breast cancer is caught early, the five-year survival rate is 99%. Our efforts are making a difference, contributing to the 44% decline in breast cancer death rates since 1989. What a great way to hashtag#GroMoreGood together.
Our Marysville, Ohio, plant has been nominated for Best New Industrial Project by the 2025 Building Columbus Awards for its state-of-the-art resin tower and air scrubbing system. The new system addresses ammonia emissions, a natural byproduct of the fertilizer manufacturing process. “The resin tower has been something we’ve been targeting and to finally get there has been a big win,” said Phillip Buerk, senior manager, Environmental Health and Safety. The project required a comprehensive overhaul beyond just emission controls to encompass an evolution of the plant's production processes. The multi-year undertaking represents a considerable investment in our commitment to sustainability. The impact of the new system is plant wide. Now, 99.9% of the ammonia processed through the scrubber system is captured and converted into ammonium sulfate, a valuable resource for use in agriculture. This innovative approach not only minimizes environmental impact but also creates a beneficial byproduct. “It's a huge environmental win, a huge employee health win, and a benefit to the local community,” said Steven Kiracofe, lead engineer, Projects.
Innovation is a key to our growth strategy. Our annual Research & Development Field Day at our main R&D facility in Marysville, Ohio, showcased our new product pipeline for our executive team, senior leaders and board of directors. Our approach to innovation is grounded in the needs of our consumers. We are focusing our R&D efforts on the development of solutions that include new formulations and other ingredients that are safe for kids and pets. Some of these new products will hit the market as early as fiscal 2026. CEO Jim Hagedorn explained it this way: “Our R&D pipeline is healthy and leans more heavily to emerging consumers, who will be our core consumer in the next 10 years. It includes more natural and organic solutions, along with products that are simpler to use. We also have a team committed to the future development of biological solutions as an alternative to synthetics.”
Our summer internships are in full bloom! We’ve welcomed a talented group of interns who are getting hands-on experience in the lawn and garden industry. They are not learning how to make grass and plants grow, though. They’re helping us build our company and our brands. Our interns are bringing their knowledge and ideas to a variety of teams, including financial planning and analysis, brand management, content development and social media, supply chain and orders-to-cash. They are also immersed in our fast-moving, performance-based culture and having fun along the way. We’re proud to support the growth of these future leaders!
In the month of April, 170 community programs got a kickstart to their gardening season by receiving a GroMoreGood Grassroots Grant. The grants are awarded by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation and KidsGardening. The recipients are in 44 states, and they lead community programs that will start or expand youth gardens and green spaces. KidsGardening Executive Director Em Shipman says, “This year’s recipients are truly inspiring—restoring gardens after natural disasters, creating inclusive spaces for youth with disabilities and revitalizing community gardens for after-school programs.” Congratulations to the winners… Thank you for helping your community grow!
